Description
Five old European cut diamonds in a row, circa 1895–1910. The 1.60ct center is flanked by four graduating old European cut diamonds totaling 2.62ct, with little diamond accents tucked between each stone (because more diamonds never hurt anyone).
The mounting tells the story of its era: a plain yellow gold shank rising into a platinum top. Jewelers of the day loved white metal around diamonds to make them look brighter, but hadn’t quite broken up with warm, sturdy gold. The open, scalloped gallery reads almost like a crown, holding each stone in claw prongs and letting light pour in.
Five-stone rings were a Victorian and Edwardian favorite for engagements and anniversaries alike. This one could be either, or simply the ring that makes everything else in your jewelry box look a little underdressed.
