Description
A late Victorian crescent brooch with serious charm: a ruby and diamond crescent tucked beneath a single pearl, with graduated old cut diamonds and rubies in silver-topped settings.
Crescents were all the rage in the late 1800s. Celestial motifs stood for new beginnings, transformation and female strength, and Victorian jewelers loved setting diamonds in silver to make them look extra white, with gold behind for warmth.
Sweet, unique, and a wonderful candidate for a conversion (pendant, anyone?).
