Description
A most eccentric antique sporting brooch, likely late Victorian or Edwardian (circa 1890-1910), and we can’t stop looking at it. It packs in every horse-racing motif of the day: old cut diamonds set in silver-topped gold, rubies, enamel, and shapes that nod to horseshoes, riding crops and jockey silks.
Racing was a huge part of British social life back then, and jewelers loved capturing it in brooches. This one has a secret, though: hidden in the center, the words “GOOD MOOD” are written backward. WE DIE! A sweet little coded message, very much in the spirit of the era’s sentimental and novelty jewels.
The rubies and pink-and-white enamel keep things festive, and the old cuts give off that soft, flickery antique sparkle. Wear it, and prepare to be asked about it.
