Description
A pendant rich in history! In the final year of World War I, Parisians carried Nénette and Rintintin, a pair of tiny yarn dolls linked by a thread, as good luck charms against the bombing raids. The rules were strict: the dolls had to be given, never bought, and if the thread between them broke, so did their protection.
Several origin stories exist, from a seamstress at the house of Paquin naming them after two refugee acquaintances to a regiment that adopted two orphaned children. The name even crossed the Atlantic: in 1918 an American airman rescued a German shepherd puppy, named him Rin Tin Tin after the charm, and the rest is Hollywood history. Here the lucky pair is rendered as an Art Deco pendant in platinum, sparkling with diamonds, rubies and sapphires.
