Description
This watch stopped us in our tracks. A vintage Boucheron chatelaine watch on a multi-strand gold chain, worn as a necklace and designed as much to be admired as to tell time. Double or triple the chain and she becomes a bracelet watch too. So many ways to enjoy her, and why wouldn’t you?
The rectangular gold case has sharp fluted edges and a minimalist dial signed Boucheron, while a gold tassel with a cabochon onyx swings below for movement and whimsy. Chatelaine watches first appeared in the 19th century, worn on chains at the waist or bodice; by the mid-20th century, houses like Boucheron had turned the idea into jewel-watches like this one.
About Boucheron: founded in Paris in 1858 by Frédéric Boucheron, the house became the first jeweler on Place Vendôme in 1893 and has long been known for jewel-watches that marry watchmaking and high jewelry. Rare, collectible, and full of effortless French style.
